A Canberra couple travelling with their children have sadly drowned at Coral Bay. Their children were on the beach when their mothers body washed up and the search is ongoing for their father - the couple had taken a year off and were writing a blog they hoped to publish into a book. No cause of death has been released as yet so I will not speculate but here is there blog -

This is terrible news, and the worst thing is that the children saw it all. The autopsy will answer all the questions I suspect. Reply to this

There are no pirates up there Carlos, the cause of death has not been established, sadly the fathers body has washed up a couple of days ago long after the search had to be called off.

What I suspect - and media reports are speculating on this too - but it cant be confirmed until there is an autopsy conducted is that they were stung by Irikanji jellyfish.

Irikanjis are the deadliest animal on the planet and have been sighted at Ningaloo recently (usually they do not come that far down south) and I would suspect if they swam into a few of them they would have gone into cardiac arrest with the pain alone which seems the most likely theory.

When the coroners report has been released I will update the official cause of death. Just terrible. Reply to this

It is an awful story and so sad the kids had to witness it all. I has assumed strong currents but purely an uneducated assumption. Hope it isnt the jellyfish but i guess at least that is a better reason that currents. Reply to this
