If you are on this forum, the chances are you're a pretty decent writer. UK national newspaper affiliated travel site Mail Travel is offering a press trip to America for talented would-be writers to research their own article for publication in the Daily Mail.

Entrants must submit a 200-word story on a destination or experience featured by MailTravel.co.uk. The five shortlisted finalists will be invited to attend a travel writing masterclass with Mail on Sunday Travel Editor Frank Barrett.

The five candidates will then put Frank’s writing tips to practical use by blogging about their masterclass and writing a 250-word story on the American Deep South, based on interviews and briefings given on the day.

The winner's press trip:
Throughout September and October 2012 there will be a public vote on the five finalists' Deep South stories. The winner will be announced at the end of October. The successful candidate will then go on a 'press trip' to the Deep South on November 20, 2012, accompanied by a friend of their choosing.

Entries can be uploaded via the Mail Travel Facebook page. (http://www.travelblog.org/Utils/new_topic.php?forum_id=23) Terms and conditions apply.
