My mom told me when I was a teenager, "Take PICTURES of people. Buy POSTCARDS of scenery."

Its stuck with me. 😊 Reply to this

We have some good friends who travel extensively and he is a very good photographer. He loves architecture and scenery and has always taken photos of them. A few years ago he told me to be sure to take photos of people. He never did and now he really regrets it. He has all these wonderful memories but can't remember what the people looked like. He said often he would set of his camera and wait minutes for all the people to move out of the shot.

That is super clever of your mum! That picture of your rasta party guy is awesome. Reply to this

This is also often me when taking pictures of buildings. Yet buildings house people. When is it the best picture? Sometimes with people, sometimes not. An interesting dilemma. Reply to this

While portraits can be more memorable because of that magical moment captured, landscapes or any other photo can be equally memorable if captured with some dramatic element. Hmm... not sure if I totally agree about portraits. Reply to this

Your point is well taken. If the buildings house people wouldn't it be more natural to include them in the photo. Reply to this
