Has anybody ever dived around Victoria and Vancouver Island? we are going to be in the area this summer and wouldn't mind to taste the water. Thanks. Reply to this

my dad has, quite a few years ago though. I can ask him if he remembers any good spots.
How long are you guys going to be there for? and when?

Hi Kristy,

Time is always too short, we will be staying 3 days in Victoria end of July. Where are you guys for the moment?

And yes, bloody happy to go back to BC...but this time it will be even better, family time, 4 of us!

We're in Norway now, we got here about a month ago, with 5 days in Iceland on the way.

Are you going to be stopping anywhere else on the way?

I will be very interested to hear what you think of the diving in this area. I don't have an interest in diving in water that cold unless I am certain I will see something wonderful. Have you been diving in a dry suit?

I have friends who have gone diving there and they tell me the visibility is 40 to 60 feet at best.
I think in Victoria you may be able to dive with Sea Lions and giant octopi. Reply to this

It will indeed be a "cool"...and rather cold dive or two. As we are with the kids, the plan is to go simply shore diving one morning. We seems to have find a nice dive site.

I've never dive in a dry-suit. The colder I went was in Croatia, 15 degrees celsius in a 5mm...that was cold!

I will be diving in a dry suit in October in a very iconic dive site...but that will come later! Reply to this

Ah, coming to my part of the world Peter! Nice. I got my PADI open ocean off of Lund, B.C. a zillion years ago, an absolutely spectacular place, near Okeover. Famous for interaction with gigantic pacific octupus et al. It is far up the coast (too far if you are based in Victoria) but there are so many dive sites and wrecks in and around the Victoria area. Dive Liquid Heaven is probably the best website because it give you a list of all sites in the area of Sidney, including wrecks.

As far as temperature, our summer months are temperate but can be chilly. Visibility can be challenging some days due to tides. I quite literally haven't dived off the coast for 20 years now, but I know many people who do, and they still rave madly about it. Have a wonderful family holiday! Reply to this
