I am 17 years old and I am an African-American and I have been wondering how can I start travling and get followers to read my blog as I am doing it. I mean I have been traveling since I was born and I have to say that I really like it a lot. I want to also share my traveling journey with other people but I never seem to get my blog up and going for people to notice. I wish I could really get people to see my blog and have people see what I am doing and what I was to achive. Is there any one out there that can help me with my questions? Reply to this

Hi,

Welcome to TravelBlog.

You could send an email to all your family and friends and include the link to your blog. Invite them to click on the 'subscribe' link on your profile page, so they get an email every time you publish a blog entry.

Alternatively, add the email addresses yourself in Control Panel > Utils > Manage Your Subscribers.

Including your link as a signature on emails is another way.

Interesting stories keep people reading once they click on one of yur entries, but photos are probably better at getting viewers' attention initially. Reply to this

It is good that you want to travel the world.I suggest you that you must visit TeAroha In New Zealand.Last year i went there with my husband. We have 2 hot pools, one with Hydro jets ideal to massage any sore joints from the long drive and a pure mineral water hot tub, set in the rocks, with seating for 6 and open all season. You might just be blown away by the umbrella of stars and our stunning sunsets on a cold winter's night sitting in the hot mineral water.Accommodation includes powered camp sites, comfy wooden cabins and fully serviced family cottages sleeping up to six people. All cabins and cottages have a television and some cooking facilities.site is given for your help on Te Aroha Reply to this

There is no real quick fix for this. A loyal following takes time and effort. It will involve usually several Social Networking elements such as Twitter, Facebook, and then the actual Blog itself just for starters. Posting new entries to your blog on Forums such as TravelBlog.com and others as well as the above mentioned friends and family will help get you started.

Another aspect is submitting an article or press release. This can be great because many websites that provide content get it from article depots such as Prlog.com. You can submit a blog entry as an article and if it gets picked up by a third party website you can end up with hundreds and possibly thousands of views in a short time (depending on who picks up the story) make sure you have a link back to the blog and hopefully with good content you will get some followers. HINT: the internet loves lists... i.e. "Top 5 Secret Destinations for 2011" or "Top 10 Hidden Gems in Central America". Easier to get these kinds of things picked up into news feeds and good for article submission.

One of the most popular Travel Bloggers/ Personalities is AdventureGirl. She has 1.5 million followers on Twitter - http://twitter.com/adventuregirl She would be a good one to study, she is doing something right.

I like Wordpress.com for blogs. They also choose Blogs of note to display on the home page. My buddy was lucky enough to get chosen and put on the homepage for his photography work. He went from having about 100 followers to over 10,000 in the blink of an eye. There are tips on how to get the editors notice on Wordpress, that can help but more than anything the content needs to be good and fresh, nice photos always a plus, the more visual the better to grab peoples attention, and hopefully they will choose you one day.

Everything I have mentioned above is free, all it takes is time and commitment and a love of Travel
Good Luck

There is no better way but to plan ahead. Organize your itinerary. There are a lot of wonderful places to see around the world, and the Philippines is one of them. I would be glad to have you here as our visitor. I will be more than willing to tour you around our wonderful country. Reply to this

I think you are going to be disappointed if you are traveling in order to get this kind of attention. Unfortunately this seems to be characteristic of your generation (sorry I know I am dating myself a bit here) but I can't help but notice the myriad of young twentysomethings who spend the whole night in a bar taking pictures of themselves for facebook. Its like going out and making it look like you are having a great time becomes the great time! Someday they will discover that really no one cares except the people they went out with...

But perhaps this isn't you and you really just want to share your experiences with your friends and relatives. Well I hate to break it to you but even these people are highly unlikely to be honestly interested in your experiences (immediate family excepted). Yes of course they care about you and will check out your blog but you will probably notice that when you get back they will ask you about your trip and about 60 seconds into your enthusiastic description their eyes will glaze over - its not because it wasnt an interesting trip its because of the fact that if they aren't travelers themselves they really won't be able to relate.

I think the same thing happens to me when some of my friends start telling me about how their kids fourth grade teacher said that their son is really doing good in his math classes but he doesnt like his science teacher blah blah blah... Its very interesting to them and to their other friends who have kids but not to me. The only people who will really want to listen to your experiences are other travelers.

Don't let this stop you from traveling (or blogging)! It will change your life for sure but do it because you want to, not because you want to show it off to the world. Reply to this
