Travelling in Florida for 5 weeks on my own without a car.

Hi guys!

I'm really desperate to get some information about travelling with the Greyhound-Buses in Florida. I will travel for about 5 weeks in Florida on my own. That's the reason why I won't be able to do so by car. It's just to expensive, I guess. So I thought to travel by bus (greyhound). But now I heard that it's really difficult to travel like this. That these buses stop in the middle of nowhere and that it is really difficult to get in the centre of the cities without a car. Is this really true? I mean I know that I won't ba able to go to all the nice places without a car, but it should be possible to at least go to the cities?
Has anyone some advice or experiences?
Thanks a lot! Reply to this

When I was in college I traveled on a Grayhound a few times ... but once I got to a city I would have to use the public bus system or cabs to get around. Not sure it this helps you any? Reply to this

Well vlasta84, I live in Boca Raton,FL and used to live in miami for about 11 years, and public transportation in Florida is not the best in the world. The greyhound I know gets you to Orlando. From Orlando to get to Miami or some of th eother cities, you will probably have to use tri-rail (which takes forever but its cheap). Go online and look up the times so you have an idea of what times it runs by. Reply to this

You probably can travel to different city by greyhound , but it is very difficult to travel in the city using bus transportation. It take a while for the bus to come and the weather is extremly hot. Reply to this

Well as your stay is long enough so you have to plan and differentiate the places where bus service is good and the places where it isn’t up to the mark. My friend also traveled earlier this year, and found it very difficult to travel as the public transport is not so good. So he had to opt for the other option that was renting a car. His budget wasn’t so big but still he found this car rental company a cheaper option. It offers quite good deals when you book car for more than a week or so. You can also check out the site if it suits you. You can browse at and get the one booked for you.

Car hire is always a best option if you want to enjoy your trip the most. Moreover when you are new to the place it becomes very difficult to be dependent on the public transportation. So get a car hired for your trip. Hope you will be able to find a suitable car in your budget. You may check website. It has a wide range of cars and has offerings giving good deals from time to time.

Private transportation is the best. You should hire a private taxi cab and that can pick up you want wherever and along with you all over time. Reply to this
