2 weeks in Florida, 1 in NY... any must see or do tips?
Hi
I'm flying into Orlando in a few days and other than the token touristy things I was wanting to know any recommendations on what to do there? I'll then head down to Miami, again anything you think is worth doing I'd love to know!
Then up to NY for a week, I have been once before and done alot of the typical touristy stuff so anything different you think is worthwhile please let me know!
Also, any hostel recommendations for any of these places would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Jade
Reply to this Orlando has great night life. Their major clubs are located Downtown on Church Street, and at the theme parks including Universal City Walk and Disney Pleasure Island. They are also close enough to Cocoa Beach that I recommend taking a side trip to see the beach! Have a great time!
Reply to this If you have the time in NY, do the Met museum, and from there take a bus to the top of Manhattan, you have the Cloisters there, it's an amazing place to see when the weather is nice. And it's not very expensive to do....to save time, I go down by metro.
In Orlando, I rate Universal and Epcot way above Disney, but there is one thing that worth to splurge around 60usd, it's the Cirque du Soleil Show, La Nouba.
In Miami, South Beach is fun, but not cheap...if you can, rent a car to visit the Everglades and than go down to Key West, this is one of the most amazing drive to do...Key West to Miami is easily 6 hours drive, so plan with a lot of spare time.
Hope this help,
Peter
Reply to this I've been in Orlando 10000 times!
Places to visit:
1. Universal Studios - especially new ride - "Hollywood Rip Ride RockitSM"!!!!
If you have kids with you - Disney is great, but if it's adults only - skip it!
2. "La Nouba" - Cirque du Soleil Show in Downtown Disney.
3. Aquatica water park - Seaworld! Great place to spend your day when it's 100F outside!
4. Millenia mall - beautiful place! Have a dinner in Cheesecake Factory and try their famous cheesecake - huge! At night visit Blue Martini club. All this is in one place: shop in the morning, have a dinner and after dark - Blue Martini!
5. For transportation - VIP Transportation Company (vip-trans.at.ua). Good company - fixed rates!
I also like Greek restaurant OPA on International Dr. - best to visit after 7pm! Belly dancers, loud music, napkins in the air and dancing on the tables!
Reply to this If you head to Miami make sure to spend some time in South Beach. Be careful though as it can get expensive quick!
Reply to this Hi !
You're so lucky to go to NY. I went there 2 years ago and loved it !
I discovered some amazing places, like a restaurant, a chocolate restaurant which was unforgettable. I don't remember the exact location, but its named Max Brenner.
Good luck, and have fun !
Reply to this I think one of the better places to visit in Orlando this summer will be The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter in Universal Studious Orlando Florida.
It should open in the Spring of 2010
