What of yours has been lost, stolen, broken... while in the baggage hold of planes. This thread was inspired by the u-tube clip 'United Airlines breaks guitars'.
I was going to mention that video! I happen to have been fairly lucky when I've traveled and I don't think that airlines have lost any of my stuff, other than things that I myself have dropped during a flight and forgotten to pick back up. But if anyone ruined or even scratched a guitar of mine there would be definite trouble! The song is pretty good!
Reply to this I have had a few incidents.
When we were flying to Cuba the airline lost the rain cover for the baby pram that we put in the luggage hold. We never got it back.
One time, I forgot to put my coffee and coffee cone in my hand luggage before checking in my bag. The cone and the tub the coffee was in were broken when I got to the destination. At least I was flying home, so it at least did not mean I had do do without coffee. 😉
When I was flying to Estonia the airline lost completely my checked in luggage. They did however find it and delivered it all in one piece to me the next day. 😊

Reply to this I had a friend who went to NY for a shopping trip and granted you are advised (or so I believe) not to lock your suitcase on leaving the US as it will be checked, but when she arrived back in the UK she realised that the US airport staff had broken open her suitcase and loads of things that she'd bought (makeup, clothes even an iphone etc) had been taken out (i.e. stolen) and there was absolutely nothing she could do to get them back! Kinda puts me off going there.... : (

What scumbags! Yeah, that and a bunch of other stories I heard about the US immigration and customs is putting me off going there. 😞
Reply to this I had traveled a lot but I haven't experience things like these. It so disgusting! Too bad...
I'd suggest that we should have a bag in which we can hand carry our most expensive belongings to avoid theft.
