Just wondering if anyone knows of a good place in China to purchase camera equipment? We are going to be in Beijing and Shanghai. I know there are a lot of bad reproductions over there being sold as authentic so I am wondering if there is a place selling the real deal that anyone can point me to? Specifically looking for a Canon DSLR- already have the Rebel but am looking for a higher pixel rate as mine is one of the first and only has 6. Or is it better to purchase the camera here?
Reply to this I can't recommend anywhere in China - but - if the shop is on the list of Canon service centres and you make sure your get a proper Canon warranty - you shouldn't be getting ripped off.
Canon China - apparently has a list - but you might need some translation to get the locations...

Reply to this If you buy it in China, it's likely you won't recieve warranty service for it in others country, there is a huge grey market industry over there that a lot of people buy into, I would be very careful buying any pro gear there.
Reply to this C arolineD----would not touch such a purchase with "a ten foot pole". Too many good cameras at home, where you can always return if there is a problem. Returning one to China after you have returned home will be a nightmare.
