Any recommended Halong bay tour companies or better to just go to Catba and sort from there?
Looking for 2 days/1night and probably with flashpackers, trying to avoid families 😊 Reply to this

We went with Vega Travel from Hanoi. Price was reasonable, food was good, there were 8 of us on a boat which would easily sleep 16. Went kayaking which is definitely to be recommended and had hot showers. They also pay dock their boat in a smaller cove with only 2 or 3 other boats rather than the main area which gets really full. Cool. Having done this a few weeks ago I say it is all down to what you want. If you want relaxing then you should book through a few places recommended on other posts, ie the tour agencies just North or\f the lake. If you want fun then there really isn't an alternative apart from to stay at the hostel in town. They charge ridiculous prices and take waaay too much commission but you will have fun and meet a lot of people your own age group and get to know them. If I'd been on a tour agency boat where I was moved around all the time then I would have been very p'd off. Reply to this

A great way to see spectacular Halong Bay is on a slow cruise through the seemingly never-ending bay of islands. Lay in the sun, enjoy a selection of the freshest seafood, and capture photograph after photograph. Later take a more intense look of one of the islands, "get off the beaten track" at a more leisurely pace. Finish the day with an amazing night's swim in the phosphorescent water. On board the Baitulong Junk take part in boat-watching, sunset and sunrise. Actually be a part of the magic. Reply to this

We just left Hulang Bay and had a great experience with Ocean Travel.
The price was reasonable, the staff professional, and best of all they have their own "eco" style island resort for you to sleep on. None of this Cat Bah hotel BS.
I can't remember what street they are located on in Hanoi, but after hearing other peoples experiences with other tour companies, I'm thankful that we found this one. Reply to this

Hey,

I work in travel and have had a lot of experience with selling packages to Vietnam & Halong Bay.

Huong Hai Cruises are fantastic. Check out the below link, it has a lot of info on diff cruise options.

Have fun.

if it came down long, then you should go the Coto islands, all information on this island you can find online. The island has her car in the lower ones that can not be happy, that's a wild character, old. With stretches of sandy beaches and it is important ecosystems intact wild characters, participants clearly see every time you go fish, snails each and every coral .....

Hello All,

In my trip to Halong Bay I've used two cruise companies. First was Halong Victory Cruises which was a bit expensive but perfect service, buffet meals were served, cabin is luxuriously designed, hair dryer is provided upon request at the receptionist counter, crew speaks English good enough to communicate, and organized activities (which I don't like because when on holiday I want to do things at my own pace). With the lovely view of Halong Bay, you can't help but long to visit it again, so on my second cruise I went with Phonix Cruises because it's cheaper for two days and one night, it only costs me $99 booked in advance. The boat is not as handsome as Bhaya but a typical Vietnamese style junk, cocktails were offered upon arrival on the boat, meals are served in Vietnamese style, around eight dishes brought to our table one by one, fruits were served after, cabin's ok with two free bottled water, kayak is fun, quite extensive paddling around three small caves, crew can't speak much English but a guide will always jump and save them for our inquiries, nice airconditioned van traveling to and from Hanoi, and the thing that I like most is I can do my things at my own pace, a bit laidback, as opposed to orgazined activities. As for rubiish yeah, I've seen some but it is expected with the hundreds of boats you'll see around. Reply to this

Hi all
I just want to tell you a true, in vietnam there hip of tour company hold daily trip to Halong bay, it is pretty easy to do, event budget travel can do by thier own too. Your journey is good or bad is definitely depend on organizer, should not care about cheap rate, should care about that quality and would that your afforable or not. most cruise in Halong bay only have ability of provide cruise and boating service, not good marketing and sale, so of course contract rate issue for travel agents are alway better. i am strongly recommended should contact through travel agent that sound more garrantee for your trip to Halong bay and catba island Reply to this
