Now that the festive season is over, it's time to start planning the next holiday. The economic crisis means that more people in the UK are likely to holiday at home this year. The weak pound will also encourage more Europeans and Americans to visit our shores.

If you're looking for ideas on how to spend your holiday time, why not consider touring Great Britain and finding out more about the country's history. For example there are hundred's of castles to visit and more information about several of them can be found on British Castle.

A lot of castles remain closed over the winter, but by Easter they will be open to the public. Wander around some of these magnificent structures and get a feel for the way of life in medieval times. Not only an enjoyable day out, but educational as well!

Do you have a favourite British castle and if so why choose that particular one? (Mine is Alnwick, by the way) By sharing your experiences with others, maybe we can entice more people to holiday in the UK and give a welcome boost to the economy. Reply to this
