The conservatism of Bavarians is legendary, but after 5 years of living here they continue to shock me.

Last night the police marched into the clubs and bars of Bavaria, Germany and ordered people to stop dancing and the music to be turned down, or there would be a fine of 10,000 Euros. Apparently, there is a law in Bavaria forbidding dancing and the playing of loud music on the Catholic holiday, All Saints Day.

The heavy metal club DJ where my boyfriend was last night cranked up the music at a second after midnight to the relief of the customers who swore that they would get revenge by p*ssing on the church steps on the way home. :D

I cant find any news links about this in English, so if anybody else has one would you post it on this thread Reply to this

Another religious celebration day so at the heavy metal club dancing was not allowed last night but loud music was. The club owners pushed the seats on to the dance floor so as to not waste the space, and the customers sat mournfully there. Looks like the church steps likely got another hosing at 4AM this morning. :D

And yet another religious day on Wednesday and the schools close here in Bavaria. We got a letter saying our daugher has to attend school by law on Saturday to make up for it.

Well, nobody can accuse Germany of not supporting religious freedom. Reply to this
