Visa for Canadians traveling to Europe

I'm taking my first trip to Europe and I have lots of questions, beginning with what countries I can be in for how long?

I'm planning to spend about 9 months in Europe and I have read that, as a Canadian citizen, I do not need a visa to enter the Schengen states if I do not stay more than 90 days in a 6 month period. I am trying to plan accordingly so that I leave the schengen states after 90 days and go to the UK for 90 days before returning to the schengen area.

I am looking online and on the Schengen visa website http://www.schengenvisa.cc/ it does not say anything about new countries added Dec 2007. However, on this website http://www.theschengenoffice.com/explained/schengen_visa.html
they list 9 countries that are not on the first website. Does anyone know if traveling to these countries is now also restricted to the rule that you cannot be in the schengen states for more than 90 days in a 180 day period? Reply to this

Hello Scar 😊

New countries are frequently added to the Schengen states bunch. If they are now members they fall under the Schengen visa rules.

However, the Shengen border and airport immigration dont seem to be too serious about people violating the tourist visa rules yet.
