I was doing research for our next travel guide when I found myself near Playa Percebu just south of San Felipe. There was this boat made of scrap wood and had this old guy smiling away. I talked to him and found out that he was David Pearlman aka Poppa Neutrino and that he is no stranger to ocean crossings having crossed the Atlantic on a scrap raft in the nineties. He told me that he has been featured in the New Yorker and that National Geographic has done specials on him. I checked out those facts when I got home and they are true. This guy is the real deal. He is finishing up his boat, (the Island Rooster) and plans to sail south through the Sea of Cortez to Cabo and then set off for China. He is also on ebay this week trying to secure sponsorships for this journey. There is a page that is following his adventure at You Decide Travel Guide Anyway this guy is a hoot so keep watch for him if you are in Mexico or on your way to China.
