I am going on a vacation with my family really soon. We live in eastern Ontario, but cant think of a really nice, new place to go to. Does any one have a suggestion? We dont want to be driving too far (probably around 7 hrs at most of driving). Somewhere maybe with nice beaches or lots of family stuff to do? thanks! Reply to this

7 hours from Eastern Ontario?

Have you been to the maritimes? I haven't been in years but I remember PEI was really pretty. Nova Scotia is also supposed to be really nice.

Quebec is celebrating its 400th anniversary so that might be fun to check out.

You could always check out one of Ontario's Provincial Parks at http://www.ontarioparks.com/ They have a 'park locator' where you can enter what sort of amenities/activities you're looking for and they'll give you a suggestion. Wasaga Beach is really pretty if you want a nice beach (I know it has a reputation for being a 'party spot' but there are some nice, quiet family beaches there as well.) There are some fun familiy activities nearby in the blue mountain/collingwood area.

I love Algonquin Park, and they have campsites and resorts that are really pretty. Muskoka also has lots of nice resorts.

Closer to you is the 1000 Islands which are really pretty. And Sandbanks Provincial Park which I've always wanted to go to.

I also hear good things about the Bruce Penninsula. Not sure how far that'd be for you.

Check the parks website for more ideas.

I live in Toronto so I must suggest my hometown 😉 But then you've probably been here before. Niagara Falls is also a classic, but then not too original either.

South of the border - I love New York City and Boston. I'm sure the northeastern states have many fun activities to explore.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions about some of the places I recommended.

Oh I was also thinking, Bayfield on Lake Huron is really pretty. It's like the smaller, quainter, quieter version of Grand Bend (which is kind of tacky and busy). I'm just trying to think of good beaches in Ontario... Reply to this
