Driving the Alaskan Highway

We are planning on driving the Alaskan Highway. Anyone have any tips, particularly about places to camp along the way once we get into Canada? Or anyone doing the same thing this month? Reply to this

Hey! Where are you driving up to Alaska from? I've driven the Alcan twice now and I have to say that it is a gorgeous trip. I'm driving part of it again in August (just to Prince Rupert) to get back to Alaska. Camping is the best bet (and cheapest) way to go since those little isolated resorts through British Columbia get pretty expensive. A good place to find and reserve camp sites is: http://www.camping.bc.ca/ I've only stayed at Lac La Hache but I really enjoyed it. The Canadians are pretty awesome and my car seems to prefer their gas 😊. I highly recommend a stop in Dawson Creek where downtown is the #1 milepost to the "true" Alaskan Highway and there's a nice little Irish pub out at the end of town. The only other tip is to bring a warm jacket because it gets really cool at night up there! 😊 Have a good trip!! Reply to this
