FROM GEORGETOWN TO STA. ELENA:

-Inraserv bus from Georgetown required us to check in at 5pm, did not leave until 8:00pm. 3 gringos in the bus with me.
-Several checkpòints along the way, police stations do a roll call checking off the passenger lists quickly.
-Uncomfortable bumpy ride, consolation no rain no breakdowns, road seems safe due to checkpoints
-Arrived early morning to a ferry crossing, took awhile, on other side sign says Iwokrama, we are in the savannahs, one gringo got off here, the other 2 in Annai.
-Beautiful scenery grassy plains with occasional hills and low trees
-Bus stopped at Guyana immigration(Lethem) then crossed newly built bridge to Brazilian immigration(Bonfim) where the bus dropped us off
-Was given 5 day transit stay, want to take taxi to Boa Vista but got screwed, the driver wont take me when 3 others decided to go with another guy, sat there seething with anger,no one around but me, driver dropped me off the bus station 3 minutes away($5!) then he found me a taxi that will go to Boa Vista right away($10), took one hour
-FYI: bus leaves for Boa Vista 4x a day 2 in the am and at 2:30pm and 4:30pm, much cheaper too if you have the time to wait
-got dropped off at taxi terminal in Boa Vista where there is frequent taxis to Pacaraima/Linea route($15), again bus it if you have time, much cheaper
-arriving in Pacaraima, was dropped off in the market just next to immigration control, driver hooked me up with a money changer, was told reais is of more value in Venezuela, $100 and $50 notes command a much better rate in the black market, so changed half my budget money to reais
-walked to immigration for stamp then another 2 km walk to the Venezuelan side, went inside a newly built building in an office for my entry stamp, guy wrote my details in a big book then stamped me in, I asked for a tourist card as per LP but was told not enforced anymore
-was told to wait in front of the immigration building for $1.5) , a minute later one stopped and I got on, rain came, got dropped off at Michelle hotel(roughly $9/nite), en suite toilet nice and clean

Roraima trek booked with Turistico Alvarez, got screwed by Francisco I paid in $ at a rate of

5.5 dont be fooled go to change at the black market yourself you get a rate of 6 at least., plenty in town, and i mean plenty!
