On the way to the Lodge
there were something like 17 of us in the canoe, plus two unfortunate honeymooners that got stuck riding with the "fam". hee hee hee. June 30, 2006
Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios River, Amazon Basin
The place we stayed in the Rainforest was freaking unbelievable. I know I know I keep using all these crazy descriptions but seriously. It was like being at Club med in the jungle or something. Check out www.inkaterra.com and go to reserve amazonica to see what I´m talking about. We went into the canopy and on a boat tour at night, we went to a lake and on a jungle walk at night. We saw a lot of caimans and spiders and giant rodents (I tried to get a photo for Justine to send to cuteoverload but alas I was not successful). I was sad to leave but only because it was the most relaxing thing we´ve done so far and involved a lot of hammock time and it was warm so I finally thawed from the Trail.

back to the ordinary
I just read through your your whole blog. It's fun to relive some of our adventures together. Remember that 3' long green snake eating the lizard, close enough to touch? And the red howler monkeys swinging in the trees? Everyone made it home on schedule and without incident, so now you two are on your own. And life should be more relaxing! Keep us posted on what you did in Lima after the rest of us left and tell us all about Arequipa and the family and the language school. Do you think you might get to see the condors in Colca Canyon? I'm still hearing the ubiquitous "El Condor Pasa" in my head! Love you guys.
