These birds were common at Posada Amazonas and quite terrifying when they exploded into flight right next to the trail.

Pitch Black?

Is this what the planet that Pitch Black was set on looked like before the giant flying monsters took over? These mud towers were from the cicadas.

A Big Spider

I have walked through thousands of spider webs now - It was never a pleasant feeling, especially when the big, juicy spider landed right on your nose!

It was a tiny platform that rose 120 feet above the forest floor - Just high enough to clear the trees.

A Bullet Ant

These large ants were to be avoided at all costs. They are said to have the most painful bite in the insect world. My friend Cesar is the finger model!

We were walking on New trail, a research only trail that went through the flood plain, and it was getting dark when we noticed that there were giant spiders all around our feet and just about everywhere we looked - It was amazing!
