Hello Everyone,
Well after a long ride we´ve arrived in Lima. We are in Miraflores which is a district right on the coast and is very nice. We spent the day walking around Miraflores and visiting Larco Del Mar which is an upscale mall on the waterfront.
The next day we were off to some museums, our first stop was to the National Museum of Peru. The building itself is really quite large and once inside we were glad to find out the admission was free. The museum showcases a lot of ancient pottery and metalurgical works as well as some very well preserved woven garments from the Incan periods. The top floor of the museum is dedicated to the two decades of terrorism from local groups as well as Government Forces experienced by Peru from the early 80´s to mid 90´s. This was something we were both really uninformed on and after seeing this exhibit it is truly amazing that people here have been able to overcome these misfortunes and return to a normal life. Definetly worth a visit if you are in Lima. Our next museum was the Gold Museum of Peru, unfortunately after taking two buses
Museo De La Naccion
National Museum of Peru to get there we didn´t have enough money to visit the museum and take the bus back to our hotel. So back on the buses we went, I´m more of a silver guy anyways and Tyne only likes Diamonds!
Since it had been so long since our last bus ride we decided to buy some tickets for a 16 hour night bus ride to Arequipa, back in Royal Class where we belong baby!
Next blog Arequipa, the Colca Canyon and beyond.....
Take care
Matt & Tyne
