We left LAX at 9am this morning and spent the entire day flying, first to Houston and then onto Lima. We arrived in Lima at 10pm, a little earlier than scheduled. It´s hard to say what the airport itself is like as we hurried through to immigration and on to pick up our bags and it was really too late to see much of anything. Near the baggage claim area are people offering cell phones to rent for $10. I´m not sure exactly what they cost after that but it´s convenient that you can get one so easily.

After gathering our luggage we were greeted by more than a hundred signs waving by different tour companies waiting to pick up their passengers. I´m not sure how our guy spotted us, but thank goodnes he did because we would have been wandering around like, well, tourists, for quite some time I´m afraid.

The ride to our hotel in Miraflores was an experience that brought back memories of taxi rides through Tijuana. There are no ¨lanes¨ exactly. Well, there are, but no one actually drives in them. At some points it is probably wiser to just close your eyes and wait until the car stops, but at the same time, it´s certainly part of the adventure!

We checked into our hotel, the Sol del Oro, at about 11pm. Tomorrow is a city tour of Lima so we can actually see what this place looks like!

Yay!
Hahaha, could have been exciting ending up on someone else's holiday at random if you chose the wrong tour company! Thank goodness he did recognise you. Certainly an exciting start to the holiday having a daredevil taxi ride!
