Lost for words...
Perito Merno glacier in Parque Nacional Los Glasciares near El Calafata. Most glaciers in the world are receding but this one is pretty stable, apart from chunks of ice falling off as big as buses... Hola mi amigo's. Un grande como esta's para tu!
Oh dear, and the grammar is bad! At least people are having a laugh thanks to our broken Spanish.
Well. alot has happended in 10 days or so...
We have just spent 3 lush days in Lima (Dubbed as the Captial of Kings but it should be renamed the captail of Casinos). Suprisingly nice. Everyone we meet said Lima is a shitehole get out asap, thats enough to make me stay. Our hotel is in a uber posh area called Mirafoles, very chilled sea side spot. Lima has (and still going) gone through much regeneation in the last few years. Went to an exhibition of before and after shots. Roads, parks, poor areas and the centre have been given a make over and its very impressive. The centre of Lima is buzzing, with lovely old buildings blending with shiny new regenation. Its really buzzy here, lots of traffic and pepping of horns. People are very freindly and can we can understand Spanish more because its slow. We can safely say we are loving Lima and wish we could spend more time here. Its also nice to have veggies, after
Nice...
Lake Argentina...the biggest in that beautiful country. A cold day in Parque Nacional Los Glaciares... all the meat in Argentina, oh and a little spice!
We are now in Paracus about 200 miles from Lima, down the south coast. The reason why we are is to go to see Sea lions, penguins, pelicans and a vast aray of other birds (I have that sitcom from the 80s, Whatching in my mind for some reason, do you remember it..) and aray we have seen, which has been wonderful to get so close to sea lions. They are cheeky mammals! The fish is amazing, fresh and tasty, lots of scallops. This area (Pisco and Paracus) was hit by a earthquake about a year ago and there was a lot of damage. You can see it as Paracus is looking a little run down. Although there is much building work going on and in a year or so I think it will be really nice.
We also went into the Paracus National Park, which sells its self as one of the dryest places on earth. Never really been to a desert before. Got a strange feeling of being in the middle of nowhere and instead of having some lift changing thought what I did think (Paul
that is...) was bloody hell lots of sand, hmmmm nice for half a day but god I would get bored. The highlight was the desert meeting the sea. Very dramatic and pretty, Andy was pooing himself when I was getting close to the edge. We had lunch in a very lush place, serving fresh fish and a table overlooking the sea, hmmmmmm and breath!
Peru is a lot different from Argentina. Less developed and European. We are starting to have some culture shock, which is nice! Lots of history here and cant wait to find out more about the Incas and other tribes.
So, what have we been up to before arrving in Lima?
12 lush days at the bottom of the world on a little adventure to Patagonia. After Peuto Madryn and our Whale fest we popped on the bus for a 24 hour coach journey. Again pretty painless. Apart from the scenery, scrub land and flat but thankfuly on the approach to El Calafata mountains, glaciers and twinkley blue lakes took over.
We then spent 3 very amazing days in El Calafata. Taking in many wonderfull glaciers, lakes and ice-bergs at the Parque Nacional
This one here...
Need I say more... Los Glaciares. Cruising up Lake Argentina dodging the icebergs. The sunlight hitting the ice and making a stunning blue colour. Ahhhh, it was easy to be lost for words. We thought it was going to be very cold and prepared ourselves. The sun was out though and by the end with 10 layers on I was starting to get heat stroke!
We spent a few days in Buenos Aires. Eating all the steak and drinking all the wine in sight. We meet up with some friends from the school and went to a 80s night at a club called LA CITY! Danced around to New Order and Rick Astley. Oh heavon is a place on earth. A strange night. We meet up at there house and was chatting away when we heard screaming from upstairs. 4 young people had got into the flat upstairs and where putting fists up jumpers pretending to have a gun. One got a punching from the guy upstairs while butch ole Andy chucked two out (Shocking first, but how proud!). They stole to phones and a little money. It could have been alot worse, lucky we were downstairs and Andy was in butch mode.
It was sad to leave Bs As (as the locals write...). A wonderful party town with freindly people. From what we saw of Argentina we really loved it. Lots of passionate and freindly people especilly in Bs As. Lots of people wanting to make a better city and country which results in many protests in the major squares and outside goverment buildings.
Well people, take care untill next time. I am sorry for the spelling, Andy was not around for spell check!
Love you all lots and big hugs.
Paulo and Andy xx

Glacial gorgeousness!
Guys those pictures are breathtaking. I'm very excited to see that there are still parts of the world where nature is still king. And I'm very chuffed for you that you got to go and see it. Sounds like all is very very smiley. Thank you so much for you gorgeous words on my blog Paul, very lovely of you. I'd love to come and spend time in Costa Rica with you, but not sure if it'll work out. I'll be back in the UK by Jan 15th and so could come out to meet you any time from then, but if you're back on 2nd Feb, I guess I'll have missed Costa Rica by mid-Jan - gutted! I could of course come earlier, but it seems silly not to make the most of being in India. So, let me know when you have a date for Costa Rica and we'll see how we go. Before then however, I know you'll be having lots of amazing trips and I can't wait to read about them all. Stay well Misters. Harry.
