Day before we agreed with Seren to leave around 10ish, so at that time we got into his van and set off. To get to Ica took a bit over an hour, in the end Seren didnt want any money from us, but we gave him some anyway. We found our hostel without any problems and it even had hot water which doesnt happen very often. We immediately left for Huacachina, which is an oasis near Ica and it used to be well know place for peruvian high class in the 40s. Water from the laguna was meant to have healing powers, but as a strenght of the source was getting weaker, rich visitors slowly stopped coming and fame of the laguna was slowly dissapearing. Today it is a popular and famous place for party goers. Entire laguna is surrounded by huge sand dunes and so another attraction
is sandboarding. We couldnt resist, so we rented the boards, climbed the biggest dune nearby and slided down. We have to say that we were quite good being the beginers, the sand was nicely warm and soft, so falls didnt hurt at all. Only unpleasant thing was sand getting everywhere - socks, rucksack, wallets ... We also spend some time in Ica and entire town is still visibly damaged by earthquake from few years ago. In the evening we return to our hostel, very happily used our shower and got rid off all the sand. There was a TV in our room with just one channel available - champions league, so we had a football themed evening.
