Happy Birthday
Explosive Bithday cake for TL Here we are safe and sound in Cusco, Peru.
We are looking forward to a couple of days off the motorcycles, and our tour of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
Alec, is still in Salta with his wife Hazel, who flew over from NZ to be with him, he is recovering well, albeit a bit slowly. Charlie, is also doing well now in hospital in La Pas, they have operated and pinned his leg. His freind will fly down from Brazil to see him in a few days.
We are sorry that these two very experienced riders can't continue with us, but such are the dangers of this sort of adventure on motorcycles in such remote places.
It is not just the the riding that is a challenge, it is also the altitude, as it affects everyone in a different way, some only get short of breath, like me, others suffer with head ache, nausia? and get very dizzy and tired and it is sometimes very difficult to concentrate, which of course we have to do 100%.
It good to be in Peru. We all have a bit of moto maintanance to do while we are here, a few of
the bikes have steering head bearing problems, that they will have to live with, my rear shock is weeping (you would too if you had been hammered like this has been), so as I say a couple of days rest for us and the motos. The massage/spa, here at the hotel has been well patronised by the bikers....
HALF WAY TROUGH. By TOM
This is definitely NOT a Holiday-Camp. I can’t remember what this Trip was called, Adventure, Expedition, Survival..... South America with Rosco’s Rocky Road is an experience Trip of my Life. Only half way and I already touched my physical and mentally borders.
An absolute must for this Trip is to have Off-road skills. The road can be extremely demanding. It just shows that skilled riders, like Alec and Charlie can also be hurt. I wish Alec and Charlie a fast and good healing of their bones. The whole Crew is aware of that everybody is exposed to this danger. Talking of the Crew, it is a unique bunch of characters from different continents of this world. They already showed that they are able to face different difficult challenges . There is no room on this Trip
Out there
in Bolivia to hide from problems.
Rosco and Gerardo also showed their unconditional positive leading position. Some people probably ask them self, “Is it really worth it to do this Trip? YES it is!!”.
The landscapes and people we have seen so far is so unique that this Trip is definitely worth it. On our motorbike’s we reached places where the general tourist would never get to. Riding on our motorbike in this scenery is a unique experience. You are not isolated, you are in the middle of the picture. Every one of our senses are in use. During a day you get so much input that the brain cannot absorb everything at the same time. I will have time when I will be back at home to watch all the pictures I have taken. The second half has started and you can already see how heavy our whole equipment has suffered. It is not just the equipment, the majority of the Crew had to undergo different sicknesses, headaches, high temperatures, diearea.... Luckely our chase truck crew (Lance and Zane) have a good first aid kit and in the majority of cases they can help. They also have strong arms and I

Rosco fulfills a dream stopped counting how often they had to help to pick up motorbikes. Thanks guys.
I would like to thank all the people who know me and left some comments on the blog. And last I would like to thank my wife Nadine who gave me the chance to live my Dream. This is a very special gift for me.
Thanks
Talk to you soon.... Tom
Well after such a great time in Cusco and Machu Picchu, when we were leaving for Chivay and the Cola Canyon, some little theiving basted cut a rope that was securing our tool bag and Gerardo's bag with his chargers and his all his makeup in. This happened outside the hotel while we were all mucking around and Lance and Zane went to wash their hands after loading the truck. I guess all leasons in life have a cost, so now we have no heavy tools, so lets hope we don't need them.
We are all in Arequipa tonight. We split up this morning and Gerardo, Tom, Cristian, Lance (with the truck) and Klause as passanger, as he was not feeling well. They came the direct route to Arequipa. The rest of us
