Yes its snowing, yes I have hypothermia, yes I made it up 4800m
Cusco is where we began our Inca adventure. Signing up with the Dragoman tour meant that we weren't going to be doing the classic 4 day Inca Trail. Instead we were participating in a 4 day community project and trail. So during our trek we would be visiting local homes, providing medical supplies to villages and money for schools.
In Cusco we met with our tour company Andina and our tour leaders Smithy & William.
The first day we ventured to see the Inca ruins of ´Sexy Woman´,went to an Alpaca/Llama park and walked through Pisac.
The second day we began the real trekking. We climbed 4200m which took 5 hours in total. A few steep hills, a bunch of llamas and a small amount of rain.
The third day was our toughest. We climbed 4800m in 8 hours. This was extreme for me. It rained, poured and then snowed. I felt a mild case of hypothermia at the top of this mountain and had to have Rich by my side the whole way down.
The fourth day was easy streets. 3 hours working our way down the mountains. Then we visited a Guinea pig farm and rested at a hotel for the night.
Then finally on the fifth day we arrived at the amazing Machu Picchu. I don't think the photos can ever fully grasp this incredible city.......
After a full day at Machu Picchu we returned to the city of Cusco and began our 24 challenge with a big meal, loads of drinking and dancing all night long.
Probably the most exhausting week of my life.......
