So we´re back in peru after a very interesting journey from La Paz, stayed in the Loki hostal which is infamous among travellers, real duvets and hot showers!!! Was immense, bt its a party hostel, and the 7am bus to Peru was a chalenge to say the least... 14 hours... 3 stops (serious leg crossage was needed) and alot of confusion at the border all with a bitch of a hangover meant that we arrived in Cusco disgruntled and ready to collapse. Cusco, however, is amazing!!! Its arguably the most gringoey city in South America, but deservedly so! The architecture is incredible, everywhere you look theres somehting amazing, add to that the neverending supply of english pubs, people and products and its like, indescribable! I can imagine that if you hadnt been travelling for too long the Imperialism may be a little overwhelming, but we had proper fish and chips today and honestly after 6 months nothing compares (thanks dad for the idea, you getting f&c in cornwall made us crave them!!). Ok, enough about britishness, Cusco cathedral is amazing, huge for one, the audio tour had vivaldi´s gloria in D in the background (which i performed with conservatorio! great to sing along to... but some weird looks were thrown!!), there was a black jesus which was just bizare, and a huge painting of the last supper with a cuy (guinea pig) in the centre!!! Reminiscent of my birthday meal but not something i´d ascociate with Christ!! All very odd but oddly explicable as Cusco is kind of an indiginous christendome fusion!! Off on the Inca Trail tomorrow and arriving in Machu Pichu saturday, excited bt aprehensive at the same time! Have heard mixed reviews about the difficulty of the trail...vamos a ver! Photos added to the gallery... write soon, x
