Well this is a long and very amusing story, so it deserves a blog of its own. In the Sucre House (our sharehouse in Cuenca) there is always a certain amount of 'pure london house' pouring out of Jerome's room, and because he was sick of the pure reggaeton crap being played in the bars in Cuenca, he decided to host a dance party with this music, in the one-and-only gay bar in town. Just as Greg and I arrived at Sucre, Jerome was planning his second gran fiesta, 'Camisa Negra', and Greg was to become an integral part of the show....within days he and 2 other gringo teachers had been convinced into dancing on the stage while our English school director Kacie sings "It's Raining Men" and they are squirted with a water pistol. In nothing but a bath-towel and wife-beater singlet. Hmmm...these are straight men (we think), but they were ready and willing! The first rehearsal with Brandon, Jeff and Greg was absolutely hilarious. Much Zhumir had to be consumed beforehand, and they did put on a show as you can see!

On the big night, everyone spent the day getting hair done and organising outfits ($3 entry

without a mask, $2 with one). Around 11 it all got started, Dave DJ Blagger warming up with some retro classics before turning out the 'pure london beats', and did we get sweaty dancing it up. Reminded me of a night at Arc in Sydney (missed you Stu!). A projected slide show on the wall encouraged everyone to write a message for someone they fancied, as we all had numbers. Even before the towel show, Greg had 5 messages, beating Brandon in a race for the most! Another feature of the night was Little Red Riding Hood, aka crazy Nina in a red cape who would give a lollipop to anyone who would take their shirt off! She was on fire....and then at 1am the show began. The boys strutted out of the changeroom in their outfits (Brandon's including a YMCA singlet) and Kacie belted out the tune with finesse, while they performed their moves....the crowd went wild! As the lyrics "...absolutely soaking wet" sounded, Jerome brought out the water pistol, and the boys writhed in pleasure as they were soaked...unfortunately the water was dyed yellow, and looked a little strange. But the show was a success. As was the

rest of the night, which we all spent dancing and getting wasted of course, until 6 in the morning, when finally the party ended up at Sucre. What a fantastic night, thanks Jerome for your inspiration!
