We arrived in Cuenca, a cultural hotspot of Ecuador, late in the evening. We were on a pretty tight schedule to get to La Paz in time for Hannah´s flight so decided to have an action packed day.

First things first, we sorted out our laundry, very important after a wet stay in the jungle.

After, we saw the Rio Tamebamba, visited a Panama hat museum (where we enjoyed taking stupid photos), some "Inca" ruins which we´re still not sure were exactly Inca ruins, Parque Calderon, the flower market, Plaza de San Sabestian, a very bad modern art museum, a religious museum called Museo de las Conceptos and a museum filled with lots of old pots. We did lots of walking about and Cuenca is a very pretty European town. If we had had more time I´m sure we would have stayed for longer.

Instead, all cultured out, on our first and last evening in Cuenca we headed to a restaurant to share our first bottle of wine of Hannah´s holiday. The next morning, we were delightfully woken by a rooster at 3.30am and agian at 5.30am... luckily we had a bus to catch at 7am all the way to Loja, which would be my last day in Ecuador after 7 weeks.
