Plaza Grande
Quito´s Independance Square, the Archbishops Palace
Hello!
Greetings from Quito, I hope everyone is well?
Well my first couple of days have been spent in the City of Quito, with a population of 2 million it is the largest in Ecuador.
I have been staying with an ecuadorian family, who have been brilliant, even thought their english is as good as my spanish, we have been getting on fine. Food is different, but lots of chicken and rice so I have had no problems with it so far. My rucksac took a different flight to me, which after a whopping 21 hours since leaving the hotel in heathrow, was just about was the last straw on my arrival but I have it back now and I´ve been able to a much needed cup of (proper) tea!!
I spent Sunday having a wander about and have included a couple of photos of the Old Town, most of it was built around the time of the Declaration of Independance in 1534, but against the mountains and volcanos behind it the views are stunning.
I am about to go and take a trip up the mountain shown in the photos, but as I travel to
Plaza Grande 2
The Presidents Palace the reserve tomorrow I thought I had best add a few bits to this before leaving. Apparently the nearest phone and internet cafe is a two hour bus ride away from where I am staying next so messages might be a bit sketchy for a few weeks, we shall see.
So off to see the mountain and then tomorrow I am going to visit the equator, cool eh!
So bye for now,
Love to all,
Lorna xxx
