Hello all!

Its Jen signing in for my first proper blog!

Check out the sign! We know the way to Amarillo and its on the side of a volcano in Ecuador! As if! Let those folk at comic relief know will ya!?

Well, our first night in our ´budget´hostal, was unfortunately not our last. Despite the joy of being kept awake all night by horrible noises, and not being allowed out until we had paid our nights rent, we have the joy of one more night there but ho-hum... on to the juicy bits....

Today we went on our first major excursion. Not to Amarillo in fact but to Pasachoa, an extinct volcano outside of Quito. An aclimatization trek. Not only to adjust to the altitude but also our ineptness at Spanish. However, we successfully got a tram-bus, a intercity bus and hired a pick up to our trek destination. And didnt get lost! No Estoy Perdida for jen!

In short, we did a mega trek. Some serious altitude. we went up to 3,500m into the collapsed crater of a volcano that has been extinct for 100,000 years. There was some seriously weird flora and fauna. Check out our David Bellamy style snaps.

We may also have been lucky enough to see some Condors! The guide book said "look out for Condors" and we saw three enormous birds circling in a stack formation. Does anyone know if this is a habit of Condors?

Hope you are all missing us!

love jen!

No news from knowle as nothing ever happens here...it is hot enough to use the pool though which is the only thing keeping me sane. Vague threat
Jen your mission, should you choose to accept, is to post a photo of yourself (suitable wide angle shot of vegetation behind you) holding a sign saying "Jungle is Massive!". Other wise some sort of puppy will get it!
