Another late published blog from Easter 2011 in Ecuador. "Semana Santa", is celebrated the week before Easter and starts on Domingo de Ramos (Palm Sunday). The procession in the streets of historical Quito was an amazing sight with 2,000 odd people walking through all the streets on Good Friday. We also had "Fanesca". Which is a traditional soup made with Bacalao (salt fish) and several different grains, beans and vegtables. As well as another relaxing trip to the beach town of Atacames for 4/5 days we went to Papallacta hot springs up in the mountains east of Quito with a cabin and private pool which my Goddaugher Mady loved as it was the first time she'd been in a pool. Next blog will be the big one..the start of further travels!!
