Well we´ve been in the Galapagos islands now for two weeks and all I can say is WOW!!! This place is absolute paradise, never in my life have I ever been anywhere with such a wide variety and concentration of wildlife. Everywhere you look you´re bound to see several different species of animals if not more, the landscapes are also as varied as the animals, making each island unique from the last.

We spent the first days of our trip here in Puerto Ayora which is the main town on Santa Cruz Island, we visited some local hangouts such as Tortuga Bay which is an awesome beach and we were practically the only ones there as well as Las Grietas which is two lagoons surrounded by 30´high walls of lava rock. Las Grietas was awesome but I almost broke my leg when I slipped into a lava rock hole so that sucked but otherwise really good.

After a few days on land we spent the next two days diving and it was really good. Our first trip was to Mosquera and Gordon Rocks, home of the Hammerheads!!!! It was so good we saw tons of sea turtles, white and black tipped sharks, Sea lions who are so playful and love to copy whatever you are doing. I got to see one Hammerhead only and unfortunately Tyne missed it but we´re diving again tommorow so hopefully we´ll see many more. Our second dive trip was to Enderby and Champion Islands and although there were less sharks to see it was still very cool. We swam inside of a school of "Solema´s" and there had to be over a million fish in the school, as soon as you would swim into the school the would totally enclose around you it was amazing. More sea lions and turtles as well as lots of Rays, huge Manta rays as well as Spotted Eagle Rays (see Tyne´s awesome video attached). The pictures posted we´re taken by our new friend Lauren, our underwater camera skills still need some work so she was kind enough to donate some pics of both our diving trips with her. Thanks Lauren.

After our diving treks we were off on our 8 day cruise around the Galapàgos Islands on our Yacht the "Aida Maria". What an awesome way to travel, we were absolutely spoiled on this boat which will definetly be missed when we´re on a 12hr bus ride in India hahahaha. Anyways it was an amazing experience and our guide Reuben was really good and very knowledgeable of the islands history and the flora and fauna. We saw every species of bird the Islands have to offer, many of whom are in the mist of mating so we got to see there mating rituals and even action. We also saw thousands of marine and land iguanas, several hundred sea lions as well. While on the boat and snorkling we saw sea turtles, black and white tipped sharks, Galapagos Sharks, more Rays and a whale as well. Our boat captain also followed a pod of dolphins for half an hour and then we followed them some more from our boats dinghy and some people got to swim with them as well. It was a really awesome trip and experience, we have over six hundred pictures to prove it 😊

We´re back in Puerto Ayora now, we´re going to dive tomorrow at North Seymour so cross your fingers and say a prayer we see lots of Hammerhead Sharks. Saturday we´re going to Isabella Island for a couple days to hang out and hike the volcano. Then Tuesday morning we´re back to the mainland to continue our adventure. Enjoy the pics and start planning your own trip because this place is definetely not one anybody should miss!!

Hasta luego

Matt & Tyne
