Parque Nacional tayrona
selection of fotos from the beaches and coves that fall between the Sierra Navada Mountains and the carribean sea After taking a four hour bus ride from Santa Marta on the north coast of Colombia I arrive at the national park entrance & decided to walk to the beaches which is a bit of a mistake even at 4 or 5 pm in the afternoon through jungle trails and off road paths. Most visitors here seem to take the jeep from the park entrance and then a 20 or 30 minute horse ride through the thick trails to fins the unexplored coves and bays of this great park. Consequently I arrive hot 6 sweaty even though I am only carrying my small rucksack with enough clothes and stuff for a few more realxing days on the beach.
Well I think I have found one of the most scenic, exclusive, natural and clean combination of beaches here on the north coast of Latin America. The sand, sea and sheer tranquility of this place beat any beach resort I have visited so far on my travels in central america, miami, thailand, the carribean and whats more there are absolutely no gringos with business interests here or trying to turn a quick dollar and turn this area into more tourism based principals
Parque NacionalTayrona
a selection of fotos from the beaches and coves that form this national park in northern colombia & I feel 100% happy knowing that my money will be going to the hard working colombians instead.
The only dissapointing thing about this nacional park is that the electricity cuts off around 8 or 9 pm so there is absolutely nothing to do here apart from get to know your neighbours in the tents in the pitch darkness and watch the hundreds of thousands of stars that brighten the sky between the clouds because there is absolutely no light pollution here whatsoever.
I meet only 10 or so foreigners here the whole 3 days which is amazing and the colombians love to spend the free time or vacation time enjoying one of the wonders of the country. This is also a unique place to try out lots of different exotic and unusual fruit that I have never ever come across such as nispero and maracuya which are definately not available in continental europe.
