I arrived to San Gil from Bogota on September 10th. It is now October 23rd and I am still here! Originally, I wasn't even going to go to San Gil. Instead of coming here from the coast like most other backpackers do, I went from the coast of Colombia to Medellin. Then I headed to Bogota and was planning to go directly on to Cali. We went in the church and found that it was filled with these children´s drawings and posters that promoted peace....both in the home and in larger society. Inspiring! He was such a sweetheart...surprised us each with a beautiful long-stemmed rose the morning he left as a "thank you" for taking care of him the day before when he was sick with food poisoning...such a cool guy to be friends with!

He was my paragliding guide, but riding on the back of his motorbike was a much bigger adrenaline rush...he is a speed freak on that thing! I survived! :)
