Cartagena is a fantastic city to people watch in. And my second favourite activity is simply meandering up and down the old streets and soaking up the atmosphere of daily life against the backdrop of the beautiful city. A friendly hawker just next door originally had his selection of goods facing outwards, but I looked over and he had moved his selection of goods to face us. Soon after we got a much closer inspection.

Not sure why the army guys were here. There were two more on the other side of the street. There's always a heavy police presence too. However the award for best guns goes to the guys in the cash vans (tanks) for ATMs and banks. SERIOUSLY big, shiny silver ones, and revolvers.

in vogue
Not only are we in vogue with high shoes and animal prints - it looks like I would be in vogue in Columbia after all that dulce de leche in Argentina! Tight clothes... sadly not so fashionable (or indeed comfortable!) here. I am very envious of your ongoing travels. I had a nice weekend at Mum's and even managed some exercise, but it's not quite the same. We had a dinner on Friday night for the Oxfam walkers. All I can say is thank the Lord that sense prevailed and I chose not to do it again, although they did incredibly well. L

OMG I see the sweetness of conleche can now be had with coconut! It does sound delicious! I agree with Brigette - enjoy the Spa day you deserve it! nd who knows who you might meet...... someone who can listen perhaps.....

I love your blogs- keep them coming. You could get a job doing tourist publicity for Cartagena! It sounds really attractive, and fun too. Had a really nice visit from Lucy; a chance to hear all about the holdup at first hand. I hope thats just a distant memory by now.
