So we made it to Chile after a long 10.5 hours crashed for the night at our new home in Santiago for the night then grabbed a bus down to Vina Del Mar for the New Year celebration. It's on the coast about 1.5 hours from Santiago...where the wealthy go on the weekends and where they claim to have the largest fireworks display for the New Year. I don't know about the biggest but they were pretty f***in good. 10 barges in the water spread between 5 coastal towns and in the right place (so we heard) you could see them all! We got down to the water nice and early "con muchas cervezas, proseco para midnight y vino tinto para despues" (with much beer, champagne and wine just in case).
We had a blast, the crowd was great and the fireworks spectacular, the Chilean now how to party. By about 2am we burned out, crashed out and got some much needed sleep.
Would definitely do it all again...maybe someday!
