Buildings in the mist
Day two in Chile we took the bus to Valparaiso on the coast. First we took the very efficient metro to the bus station where we sort of took the wrong exit and I may have jumped over a ticket barrier. We left Santiago in fine weather and arrived in Valparaiso to find it covered in a lovely Scottish harr. Not the best weather to appreciate the pretty coastal town in.

We wandered along the main street and then took one of the many ancient ascensors to the upper part of the town. There were balamory coloured buildings clinging on to the sleep slopes, broken down cars and graffiti everywhere but there was a certain charm to the place. In the afternoon before getting the return bus to Santiago we stopped for a pisco sour. A cocktail made using Chile´s national drink pisco.

Later at night we enjoyed a few more pisco sours at the hostel courtesy of Pato, our crazy Chilean host.
