Vilarrica Feb 20 - Friday - PUCON
Up at 5:30 for airport transfer at 6.20. Booked luggage in. Put my backpack down and in the process somehow hurt my back. I fainted - paramedics couldn't speak any English. I recovered, but Paramedics walked me to security. Was OK. Took a week or so to come completely right.
Glad it didn't stop us from catching plane.
Picked up hire care at Puerto Montt - Red Hilux 4WC pick up truck. Luggage in back - Mike drove about 300km back north towards Santiago to Lakes area. Arrived Pucon early pm.
Booked in to accommodation. Walked around the town and bought food. Down to beach - black volcanic gravel on beach. Great views of Villarrica Volcano. (Active volcano - smoking).
Beautiful lake. Stopped at Super market and stocked up on food as we did own cooking. Washing.
Cabin convenient but somewhat run down.
Dogs barked all night - cars and motor bikes roaring up street. Rather noisy. Security fence/gates and bars on windows.
Feb 21 - Saturday
Slept in till 9 am. Took packed lunch. Checked out volcano, but very hazy and top not

Vilarrica visible. Went out to National park - waterfall and lakes. Ate lunch at waterfall. Lake Caburgua. Continued up to 2 further lakes. We saw Tinquilco Lago, Lago Chico, Laguna Verde. Just beautiful!
Feb 22 - Sunday
Drove out to Volcano again. Climbed up to snow line. Interesting views and sights on side of volcano. Difficult walking up, bounced back down on soft gravel much more quickly!
Drove out to waterfalls - ate lunch at one. Drove to another one - very popular. Walked around area - one section extremely blue.
