What Diet! We had a long hike ahead of us!!What Diet! We had a long hike ahead of us!!What Diet! We had a long hike ahead of us!!

The salads were never going to last. Our first Argy steak and not a vegetable in sight!
For a change I thought I would give the gospel a miss and enlighten you to a few other developments over the last week......

So, expense number 1. We received a lovely email from our campervan company highlighting that everything was not well with our New Zealand account. In fact there was an outstanding balance that was owed to them , and inturn owed to the local bill. Yes, after driving a sports car (and a might turbo charged beast at that, known as the "Cheadle Hulme Bullet") in the uk for many years and keeping a clean nose, I managed to rack up a speeding fine in NZ. The fastest toilet in Lake Taupo apparently. At first I felt proud that I had managed to take not only a diesel tranny to 77 in a 50, but also a shower, a bed, fridge and even a load of sh*t with me. That soon passed when I saw the cost of the fine! It was at 7 in the morning to boot. There are only 4 million people in NZ in total, so lets just say at 7 in the morning the only thing on the roads was a kebab

and a stray dog.

Expense number 2. Some oik nicked my sunnys! Had it been my dirty grundies, or maybe my pongy sandals then fare play they would be welcome to them, but my sunny's!!! So the Navimag ferry will always be remembered, not only for the good views, but for the first time we had something stolen from our packs (whilst in Navimags hands I might add). The biggest frustration, apart from the constant squinting look on my face that can easily be misinterpreted to me needing to find los Banos urgently, was then trying to get a report from them to confirm that they had been lost so that we can claim against our insurance. Rach had to stand outside as she almost nutted the Navimag officer when she practically accused us of lying.

So, all in all it has been an expensive week, not to mention that we still need to buy some new waterproofs and find some boots that fit Rach´s burgers.....

Anyway, that aside we are now in Puerto Varas. The Navimag trip was relaxing. Not much to do but read , sleep, and eat, which we embraced as much as humanly

That steak was so not big enough for the climb!
possible. The food might have been bland but it was a good way to kill 3 hours each day. So, in order to burn some pounds we hiked up Volcano Osorno yesterday (and completed a little in hike surgery on the burgers). We are cooking in most nights and enjoyed the delights of chorizo faijtas last night, better than they sound I might add.

Off to the deserts of Atacama tomorrow.....

The NZ police got me too. At least you won't get points. Didn't get points in the states either. Nice pics
