Edit Blog Post
Ok, Im going to try to keep this short as we have a few blogs to catch up on.
As Gray said in his last blog we decided to get the Navimag Ferry to Puerto Montt. We were having a few problems getting North by bus as the RN40 is closed for the majority of the winter due to bad weather and dodgy roads. Even after hearing that this option was a Chilean torure technique we took it .... were we mad!!?.....
The first day on the boat was great!! We woke up to a wicked sunrise and scenery. There were some seals swimming along with us for a while which I absolutely loved!! We were out of season so the ferry was quiet, only 15 or so passengers.... oh and 75 trucks of cows, sheep and horses!!! We kind of got used the smell after a while. ; )
The second day was not so great. We woke up to find the ferry rocking from side to side, forwards and backwards, side to side..... you get the picture. It was not ideal for a stonking hangover! The night before we got drunk playing cards with a few
friends and ended up drinking more with some Chilean truckers in their truck!! I somehow became fluent in Spanish ..... apparently learning a new language is a lot easier after a lot of red wine and Pisco sour! I was sick as a dog for the entire day and night but for at least I made it to the loo each time - unlike our new friend Nick who puked on the top deck!!! (Hi Nick!! Hahaha)
The best bit about the ferry was that we were allowed in the Captains bridge so we spent the majority of the 3 days pretending that we were part of the crew. I was the Captain of course, I stole his chair! The 1st officer Raph even taught us how to use the equipment and plot maps which was cool. England and Ecuador were playing on the Sunday but we were out of range for tv. We managed to persuade the Captain to let us listen to it on the ferrys world radio service even though we wouldnt understand a word! They even let our friend Sally make an anouncement over the ships tanoy system when England scored. We really did have
See what I mean....
This was the first mornings amazing sunset, just as i said! the run of the place!! It was definately a very memorable way to follow the game.
So, were we mad!? Well, maybe a little but it will remain a great memory!! : )
Anyway, that was me "trying" to keep it short....
