We were woken by mum at about 8:00am and then did the usual final bits of packing and piled it all into the car to leave around 9:30am also fitting some breakfast in there. The border with Chile was only about an hours drive away from where we were staying but because of the previous border crossing issues nerves were starting to rise as we came nearer but there was an upside as we drove along we came across this big volcano covered in snow (dont think it was active, but there were some active ones around) along the way. Fortunatellz the border crossing went very smoothly in fact in the first argentinian secction the people were so friendly that thez wanted there photo taken with Douglas. Once we were through we drove for what must have been another hour along an interesting road weeving through the valley.
We arrived in the first city/town called pucon were we got all of our available money into the correct currency, and then made fun of the rediculous amount of zeros that chilean pesos have (you would pay about 4500 pesos for a sandwich). Then we realised it was lunch time so we had lunch in a very interesting restaurant, in Pucon, which served us enormous sandwiches and mum had an omelete served on a garden patio stone (see photo). After this meal was when we first started to realise how unhealthz we have been eating for the last couple of weeks or so and because of lack of exercise its was taking its toll. The next few hours driving werent so interesting as we got onto a motorway which will also take us nearly the whole way up through Chile, although it is fast it is boring, but we did go on a bit of a wild goose chase for some petrol at one point and found some just before running out also dad did one of his special brew ups in the middle of a little town somwhere, but after that stop we kept on going untill
about 7:30pm which was when we arraived at our destination; a bit of a dull citz called chillan. Mum had a couple of places in mind to stay so we found one of them which turned out to be a posh place therefor a bit too expensive so then we went in search of the next place but on the way i spotted a sign that said hotel so we thought we would give it a go. It turned out to be a bit of a sad, rubish old place to be honest or to some it up in Bens words "a grotty place" but we ended up going for it anyway. After unloading all our stuff we went out in search for a bite to eat, we found a place that looked ok. Ben and Mum sensiblly ordered a salad to be a bit healthz but me and Dad just listening to our stomachs and not remembering how we felt earlier ordered big burgers. The food was terrible especiallz the burgers! so inevitably me and Dad ended up feeling even worse than earlier so we decided to take a sort of oath to eat more decently and healthily at least for the next few days.Even though i felt as fat and unhealthy as a couch potato pig the beds in the hotel turned out to be pretty comfortable so I went peacfully to sleep.
