one of many :)
Well... Just our luck! We got stuck in San pedro de atacama. Porque? We arrived on a Saturday and wanted to take the bus to Argentina on Sunday, but it was sold out and the next bus didn´t leave until Tuesday. Good thing we had our "travelling family" (the group from salar de uyuni) to keep us company.

So we ended up staying in a dorm with the family. 8 beds for 6 people! Hooray we got the whole room to ourselves... So we thought. Halfway through the day, we had a new roomie, Sketchy Francois. Lets just say he enjoyed substances of the illegal nature.

San pedro de atacama itself is quite nice even though it´s very touristy. It was nice and hot so we enjoyed many helados. There are quite a few number of tours but they were similar to the ones that we had done so we skipped on that and chose to do absolutely nothing instead. If they gave out prizes on time wasting, we would get the gold medal. We ate, went on the internet, sat around having coffee or reading, twiddled our thumbs, etc. The only tour we wanted to do was stargazing

but that ended up being cancelled because it was too cloudy (such bad luck - the skies were clear for the first two nights we were there, and cloudy on the night with the english tour). Disappointment. So there we were just chilling for 3 days and didn´t end up seeing anything.

With all our free time, we decided to make dinner instead of eating out (the expensive tourist prices was also another reason). We successfully avoided being the cooks for the first two nights, but finally had to roll up our sleeves and cook on the third night. I don´t know how this was decided, but we were tasked with making fried rice. They thought we would be able to make amazing fried rice. HAHA. But we proved them wrong ... we don´t even know how to make rice without a rice cooker! After shamefully admitting this, one of the girls graciously made the rice for us. The fried rice we made was awful though - it was too soggy and we burnt it a little (equipment in hostel kitchens are not that great). Our traveling family was nice enough to eat it with smiles on their faces

enjoying chilean wine to pass time. at least we're not using plastic cups!
though. We are a disgrace.

I guess that´s all for San Pedro de Atacama. Though it was a little bit of a waste not seeing anything while we were there, it was nice to relax in the sun.
