After several fun-filled days, it was time to say goodbye to Sergio, Miri and Elodie as they left to cross the pass to Salta in the Quebrada Country of North-Western Argentina. Area of spectacular rock formations and part of the old road system to San Pedro

The green of the vegetation provides great contrast with the colours and starkness of the surrounding desert and Salt Mountain Range

However, they usually come from the other side and do a free wheel down. Lots of potholes for the unwary!!

Built in 1930, it marked the high point of the old road linking Calama with San Pedro.

Didn't venture much further, as time was against me and I knew there were many kilometres of road heading in various directions , didn't want to contemplate getting lost in the desert. Not a pleasant thought.
