Today, Ricardo from the aikido club took us out with his two sons Ricardo and Enrique. The rainforest which used to extend along the Atlantic coast has been all but destroyed, with a few exceptions, as here in Tijuca. We drove up and down windy roads, but the rain was persistent so we missed out on the views over the city from the top. Ah well, it’s not called a rainforest for nothing!

We dried up by the beach in Barra where Ricardo introduced us to bobo, a great dish of rice, manioc and prawn sauce, delicious!

There will be no comment on the England versus Uruguay game...
