in belemin belemin belem

in front of a nice square, with a parrot phone box in the background!
on weds we got a boat from manaus to belem, along the amazon river... it took 5 days and 4 nights! We did get hammock space as it was cheaper but when we got there.. oh my god! Everyone was packed in like sardines.. it was amazing! They tried to put up our hammocks in the
space that one takes up.. and it wasn't nice at all so we tried to get a cabin instead, which we did! I think it may have been the last one so we were v lucky!

It was on the top deck and we saw the amazon forest for all
those days.. it was really good- Some nights it got really rough... like the last night- it was the most
scared i have ever felt because it was swaying so much... But don´t worry we are ok and we got here safely.

i had a brilliant time just relaxing, listening to my music and reading and meeting many new people. We met one girl from lithuania who now lives in London and
she is sharing a room with us in belém for a couple of nights, which is nice.

we saw some amazing views... here's one that shows some civilization along the river
the boat were really good as we were the only veggies and they tried to prepare salads for us instead- like they did at the lodge in the forest too!

i forgot to mention- At the lodge it was really funny cos one of the guides was from guyana and his family had come from India- and he saw that we were Indian and he came over to us to show us the curry powder he uses in his
cooking!!! It was so funny- he knew that we would understand! He even gets it especially from Guyana as the food is so bland here.

i must moan about the heat on the boat again though.... sun was burning... quite literally!!

sorry if some of u have read this before.. like i said... time is short!

so from belém we got a bus to fortaleza, which was almost 29hrs... we stopped along the way for toilet breaks, so it wasn´t so bad! fortaleza is absolutely beautiful and we have a hostel right on the beach... so am off now to sit on the sand... which of course is incredibly hot too!

take care x
