Order a beer by phone!
We need this in Englewood Jan 4, the trip begins….
We left Rio bright and early and drove to Paraty, a seaside resort maybe 100 or so miles from Rio. The roads were bad, and the drive took 4 hours or so. We camped at a commercial campground with showers and a nice grassy area. It rained off and on for the 2 nights we were there.
The next morning we took a tour boat out into the bay for snorkling, lunch, and sightseeing. It was cloudy and rainy the whole day, and we came back cold and wet. The snorkling was a big disappointment.
The evening of the 5th Dennis and I decided to eat in town, as the food looked really good and not too expensive. Apparently this resonated with the rest of the group, so our guide cancelled dinner on the truck and everyone wandered into town for a meal. We had a nice dinner for about $15.00 each, with steak, fries, wine.
Paraty is quite a touristy town. The have obviously spent a lot of money painting and decorating the town to attract tourists, mostly from Brazil. It is clean and bright, the food is good, the streets
The resort town of Paraty
very nice little tourist oriented town are filled with vendors selling crafts and so forth.
One great picture I have is of the crazy beer vendor with a telephone. He “seems” to be taking orders on the phone (as he walks down the street) but a closer look reveals that he has an old ‘Princess” telephone, and he really isn’t taking beer orders….he is just promoting his beer cart!!
Next we leave for the Pantanal!!
