We spent several days in Brazil. We stopped in Curitiba, in the state of Parana, in southern Brasil, where we saw Don's former student Sergio Ahrens, his wife Suzanne, and their family. We then moved on to Rio de Janeiro. There, we walked Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, rode the cablecar to the top of Sugarloaf (the famous headland at the entrance to Rio's harbor), and rode the cog train up to to the Christ the Redeemer statue, high atop a mountain overlooking the city and harbor. Rio's setting is spectacularly beautiful.
