Florianópolis, also known as Floripa, is a wonderful island off of the state of Santa Catarina, in the south of Brazil. I am visiting my godmother who lives in the commercial center. The best thing here are the beautiful beaches that dominate the landscape. Riberão da Ilha, Cameche, Aramção, Inglêses, Santo Antônio de Lisboa are a few of my favorites. Most are small fishing villages that still hold onto the charm of its early historical days in the form of traditional Portuguese architecture and cuisine that delight all the senses. Magic embues this place, and my only regret is not going to carnaval (it was too rainy and I have no one to go with). Still, I am having a lot of fun and am very thankful to connect with family that I haven't seen in too long.
