We stayed in the Hotel Express, not far from the airport. After getting settled in our rooms, we went out looking for something for supper; walked a few blocks and came to a tiny cafe. We thought it was closed, because of the gate being shut, but the lady came to the door and had us come in and then promptly locked the gate behind us. 😊 She spoke no English, but after hand gestures, & Lynette and I ending up in the kitchen, pointing to french fries cooking in a pot, we got our food just fine and it was very good. She kept bringing food from the kitchen and we kept eating. 😊

After a much needed nights rest, we were taken to a bus stop for a tour of the city of Porto Alegre. Part of our group missed the bus; they wait for NO one. But we enjoyed the sights and sounds of this very large city. We were riding around on the top of an open air double decker bus, so it was fun to take photos and really be able to see everything.

We hopped in a taxi and went to the marketplace, Rich & Lynette were able to find soccer shirts for a couple of grandkids. The fruits & vegetables were displayed so beautifully. There were displays of fish, meat, spices, & wears. It was neat to just walk around and enjoy the people and culture.

Then we ate with a large group of ABWE folks and some mission families at a Churrascacia. This was a German type restaurant, but we have never seen this style of buffet. Notice the pics of the skewers of meat on the grill and then they would bring several to our table at a time, unlimited in amount and kind; everything from fruit to appetizers to meats; besides several buffet lines of various foods. Unbelievable!!!

The afternoon was spent visiting several of the church plants in several locations.

In the evening we spent time with the Clarks and Cooks, missionaries to the local area.
