I am now 16 days into the trip and have traveled on from Rio to Porto Seguro, then to Salvador, Recife and am writting this in Natal.
Porto seguro stands out as having the best beaches as can be seen in the photos, they were empty and went on for miles. Porto seguro itself was a pretty cool place, a kind of middle class holiday resort for brazillians. The atmosphere was very chilled out, during the day we eaither sunbathed or waled around the small cobbled streets, then in the evening we ate outside at one of the many cool little restauraunts. After sampling lots ofthe local drink which is caprina (a whole lime, ice and lots of cachasa), i was convinced to give samba a go, which went fairly well and no one cares anyway. We also went to an idigenous native reserve place, which we weren´t expecting to find untill we got closer to the amazon. We were showed round by a dude that was probably younger than me (shown with me and the bow and arrow) It was really interesting, we were shown how they trapped animals, grew their own medical plants and lived totaly off the
land.
Salvador lives up to its repuation of having an amazing music scene. The small colonial streets are lines with small bars each with their own musicians, who are really good. Sadly we had to leave on the tuesday night which we then found out was party night when everyone gos mad (random day for it)
Recife itself is nothing special, but we stayed in a small town 10km away called ollinda which is the kind of place that oaps would take a coach tour to for the day - but that doesnt mean it was bad. It had loads of old colonial architecture and was great as a relaxing stop.
And i´l write about Natal some other time.
In case you are wondering why none of the photos in my blogs relate to what im talking about its because it takes so long to upload the photos that i dont have time to write at the same time.
